Ken Jennings on “My Puny Human Brain”

OK, I should stop this Watson streak of posts. But here’s a wonderful piece by Ken Jennings on playing against Watson: http://www.slate.com/id/2284721/pagenum/all/#p2

I like his sense of humor: “Watson has lots in common with a top-ranked human Jeopardy! player: It’s very smart, very fast, speaks in an uneven monotone, and has never known the touch of a woman.” 🙂

But more seriously, as Margaret Boden (check out her classic “Artificial Intelligence and Natural Man”) says, the more you work on AI, the more you realize and wonder at how complex human and human reasoning is — makes you more than ever humanistic. I like computers and computing, but hey, how can it compare with a child’s smile? Or an introspective piece by Jennings? 🙂
